Publication of manuscripts

All manuscripts, whether presented orally or by poster at the symposium, can be submitted for publication in a special issue of Journal of Sea Research. Manuscripts will be subjected to the normal review process of the journal. Accepted papers will be published in two special volumes scheduled for end of 2009 and beginning of  2010.

Deadline for submission

The deadline for submission of manuscripts is March 1st 2009.

Guidelines for authors

Author instructions can be found in the Journal of Sea Research home page.

Manuscripts must be submitted directly to the Journal of Sea Research by EES (Elsevier Electronic System). At the New Submission Menu select Article Type: Special Issue 7th IFS. Your submission should also include a cover letter stating Proceedings 7th IFS and the names of 4 potential (international) reviewers.

Reviewing procedure

Managing guest editor (Henk van der Veer) and guest editors (Richard Nash and Henrique Cabral) have been assigned to enable a prompt reviewing process and publication of the proceedings. Upon submission, manuscripts will be evaluated according to the following procedures:

[1] Author(s) will receive an e-mail in which the submission of their manuscript is confirmed along with a reference number for their manuscript.

[2] Guest editors will make a preliminary decision on whether the manuscript will be sent out for review. Selection criteria are in line with the scope of the journal, quality of the manuscript and especially whether the paper contributes to our knowledge in one of the fields of the flatfish symposium topics.

[3] Papers selected for review will be sent out to three independent reviewers.

[4] The editorial decision will include at least two referee reports. In case of large differences in opinion between referees, the manuscript may be sent out for additional reviews.

[5] Except for papers that are rejected, authors will be invited to present a revised version of their paper in which the comments raised by the reviewers are addressed.

[6] Revised versions of manuscripts will generally be reviewed and dealt with by the guest editors although additional external reviewing may be considered in some cases.

[7] Authors will receive the editorial decision of the guest editors.

[8] Authors will receive the final decision by the editorial board of the Journal of Sea Research.
